Best Vitamins for Men According to Vitamin Manufacturers

Posted on by Andi

Hello, our dear readers! It’s a brand new week, and a brand new month! The Christmas season has officially begun! Okay, we’re going a little off-topic now, so let’s go back.

Last week, we talked about the best vitamins for women according to vitamin manufacturers. Today, our topic is dedicated to all our men readers. We are going to discuss the best vitamins for men from our trusted vitamin manufacturer’s point of view. You guys might ask, “Why write two separate articles about this?” That’s because it goes without saying that men and women’s bodies are different. Therefore, they have different needs. Men may need more of a certain nutrient, while women need less of such.

Some of you might also be wondering why we should take the word of vitamin manufacturers when it comes to their knowledge of what kind of vitamins work for men. Vitamin manufacturers possess first-hand information when it comes to their sales. This makes up as a credible source of information since it gives us an idea of which vitamins sell the fastest. They also have a team of experts who have in-depth knowledge when it comes to nutrition and diet. Today, let us take note of the best vitamins for men according to our veteran vitamin manufacturer.

  • Vitamin K

Did you know that the number 1 cause of death among men in the United States and other western countries is heart disease? A man’s lack of Vitamin K can cause a variety of heart diseases. Vitamin K is vital in building and keeping strong bones, fight blood clotting, and most importantly, preventing heart diseases. Vitamin K deficiency is common in men who do not eat vegetables or dairy, are suffering from intestinal problems like irritable bowel syndrome, or are taking antibiotics or medications for a long period of time. Apart from taking Vitamin K in a supplement form, you should also eat green leafy vegetables, broccoli, cabbage, fish, and eggs.

  • Vitamin D3

One of the most common vitamin deficiency in both men and women is Vitamin D. However, today, we zoom in on men. Men need Vitamin D3 in order to produce enough testosterone, the male hormone. Vitamin D3 is essential to maintain brain and bone health and control blood pressure and cholesterol levels. It also helps alleviate inflammation.

Studies have also revealed that men who are Vitamin D deficient are 80% more likely to suffer a heart attack or stroke – this is why Vitamin D makes it to the list of the best vitamin for men according to our vitamin manufacturer.

Secure your Vitamin D fix by basking under the glorious sun. This would be more effective if you do not wear any sunscreen because you enable Vitamin D to be synthesized once it touches your skin and your body detoxifies through this as well, but remember not to expose yourself for more than 20 minutes. If you live in colder countries, supplementing with Vitamin D is very important.

  • Magnesium

The magnificent magnesium! Did you know that magnesium plays a role in over 300 different chemical processes? That’s because magnesium is an essential electrolyte mineral. It assists in regulating potassium, sodium, and calcium levels that prevent heart disease, high blood pressure, headaches, and muscle spasms. Sadly, because of soil depletion, the magnesium levels in the food we eat today has declined. When a man works out too much, has a digestive disorder that inhibits absorptions, or simply under a lot of stress, this can cause magnesium deficiency too.

Magnesium deficiency can manifest through a number of symptoms: bathroom troubles, muscle twitches, anxiety, and trouble getting a good night’s sleep. Fill up your magnesium reservoir by eating beans, nuts, seeds, cruciferous veggies, sea vegetables, and green leafy vegetables.

  • Vitamin B12

Men and women both have the tendency to be Vitamin B12 deficient. This is a little puzzling since men get their Vitamin B12 fix from beef, eggs, and poultry. But the thing is, they have trouble when it comes to properly absorbing Vitamin B12 due to the medicines they take. This is highly evident in older men who are on several prescriptions meant to block acid, manage blood pressure or diabetes because taking these medicines affect the way Vitamin B12 is metabolized in the body. If faced with this problem, Vitamin B12 deficiency manifests through central nervous system problems and fatigue.

Vitamin B12 can be pulled down if you eat animal proteins, like salmon, beef, and lamb. However, if you are taking the likes of the medicines mentioned earlier that interferes with Vitamin B12 absorption, then supplementing with Vitamin B12 will make up for it.

  • The Big ACE (Vitamins A, C, and E) or the Antioxidant Vitamins

Yes, these vitamins are not just for men. These fat-soluble vitamins are not produced by our bodies, so we should eat our way to acquiring them sufficiently. Antioxidants are best known to fight free radical damage or oxidative stress. Oxidative stress speeds up aging automatically placing men in danger of cancer, heart disease, cognitive decline, and loss of vision.

Supplementing with antioxidant vitamins shield the healthy cells, and prevent cell mutations, and tumor growth, tissue loss, and artery damage. Lack of Vitamin A or E can manifest through poor vision and dry, irritated skin. If you are Vitamin C deficient, then your immune system might be compromised, you might often be sick, have swollen gums, or nosebleeds.

To satisfy your need for Vitamin C, make sure that you eat a “rainbow” diet. What is a rainbow diet? As you know, there is no single food that will give us all the nutrients and vitamins we need. Therefore, we will need to it different kinds of food, with different colors. Each color we find in food shows that each of them has unique nutritional content. That’s why it’s important that we have a colorful diet.

These top 5 best vitamins for men according to vitamin manufacturers will surely help you, whether you are a customer or a budding vitamin supplier or manufacturer. We hope that this post has educated and given you an idea of what you need in your life or business.

Posted on by Andi

Perhaps one of the most reliable sources of information on which vitamins sells the most are vitamin manufacturers. That’s because they have first-hand information on the number of orders placed and how fast these products sell.

Women are naturally more conscious about their health and well-being. Women are constantly looking for ways to improve not just their physical appearance, but more importantly their overall health. That is why we asked different vitamin manufacturers which vitamins and supplements keep the women of today empowered. Here are their answers:

  • Folic Acid or Folate

Whenever we hear folic acid, our mind immediately wanders to pregnancy. Contrary to popular belief, folic acid is not just for women. It does not matter whether you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or have no plans to bear a child, taking folic acid is enhances brain health and cell reproduction. It also helps improve a person’s verbal fluency and memory. It is also believed to help uplift a person’s mood.

The benefits of taking folic acid are not limited to pregnant women, but it is, indeed especially important for women who are planning to have a baby and are already bearing a child. Folic acid is a key component in prenatal vitamins. Oh, and did you know that prenatal vitamins are more beneficial when you take it before you get pregnant? That’s why it’s called prenatal vitamins. When a woman takes it up to 6 months before she conceives and throughout her pregnancy, taking prenatal vitamins greatly reduces the risk of giving birth to a child with birth defects in the brain or spinal cord.

  • Fish Oil

Fish oil is particularly beneficial to women who are in their 40s. These women are about to enter what we call perimenopause. This stage in a woman’s life is the time when the ovaries begin to produce less estrogen. Fish oil contains healthy omega-3 fatty acids which help reduce hot flashes. Hot flashes are the most common symptom of menopause. This is felt through a sensation of heat that begins in the head and neck regions. Fish oil also supports a woman’s brain and heart health.

  • Iron

Iron deficiency is surprisingly common among women who are in their 30s. My guess is because this is the time women usually try to cut down on meat and be strict about their diets. During this age, women tend to have moderate to heavy menstruation which can also lead to iron deficiency. Taking an iron supplement can be tricky because if taken in excess, it can cause abdominal pain, vomiting, and other symptoms.

  • Vitamin D and Calcium

As women advance in age, their bones become more brittle. Vitamin D strengthens bone density. When you take it with calcium, it can reduce risk fractures. Who says building strong bones can only be done at a young age? Continue strengthening them by improving bone mineral density.

  • Turmeric

Made from turmeric root that comes from India, this supplement is a powerful antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties that ease joint pains. It also enhances brain function and memory. Turmeric also has benefits to our skin and hair.

These are the top 5 vitamins for women according to our trusted vitamin manufacturer. If you want to capture the women’s market, then be sure to include these in your own line of vitamins and supplements.

Signs that Your Vitamins Will Not Work

Posted on by Andi

People invest in their health and spend extra of their hard earned money to improve the quality of their lives and health. However, the sad truth about the vitamins we consumers buy is that not all of them are created equal. Some of them might work, while some might not. Here are some telling signs that your vitamin is most likely not going to work.

  1. It prides more than 100% of the US recommended daily allowance

Do you think vitamin supplements packed with “more nutrients” is better? Think again. If the vitamin bottle you are holding right now says that it contains more than 100% of the US recommended daily allowance, put it down. That is because Vitamins A, D, E, and K, which are fat-soluble vitamins, are stored in the body, will accumulate and eventually cause our bodies harm. Accumulation of these vitamins has been linked to cancer. So, more nutrients is not good all the time.

  1. It’s all too good to be true

You should know that vitamins and other supplements are strictly prohibited to make claims that they can cure, prevent, or even diagnose any condition or disease. Although, that does not necessarily mean they can’t or won’t. If the claims of your vitamins are too good to be true, then chances are, it’s not true. Don’t waste your money and put it down.

  1. The seal of approval is missing

The United States has a lot of approving bodies when it comes to foods and drugs. The most common seals that should appear on your vitamins are “US Pharmacopeia Verified”, ConsumerLab Seal of Approval, or NSF (National Science Foundation) seal. If these seals are on the bottle of your vitamin or supplement, then you can rest assured that your money is not going to waste.

  1. Celebrities are for entertainment only

I know, I know, seeing Ryan Gosling drinking a certain vitamin or supplement is enough to send us rushing to the nearest drug store and buy what he’s taking, but Ryan Gosling does not know any better when it comes to the vitamin’s effectivity. More than his endorsement, you should look for the endorsement of a legitimate organization because they provide third-party testing and well-documented results that will show reliable results.

  1. The doses are insufficient

Earlier, I mentioned that too much of certain vitamins can be harmful to our health. On the other hand, some vitamins and minerals may contain little amounts to really make any difference in the body. That’s why it is important to always check with your vitamin manufacturer if they are sure that the vitamins they produce deliver the dose they claim.

  1. There are way too many fillers

So, the thing is, some vitamins use those artery-clogging hydrogenated fats and oils that we all avoid. It turns out, these fats and oils make as very cheap vitamin or supplement fillers. So, that immediately cancels out the nutrients that we are trying to get from the vitamins we take. There are some fillers that are so dangerous they can be compared to asbestos when it comes to composition – this is magnesium silicate. This can cause lung and stomach problems if you swallow or inhale it. If you see this in your vitamins, walk away from it as fast as you can.

  1. Your vitamins are too “pretty”

When I say pretty, I mean colorful. I know, they’re easy on the eyes. But the thing with “pretty” vitamins is that they use dyes to compensate for the loss of color from exposure to air, extreme temperatures, light, moisture, and other conditions, or sometimes, just to make the vitamin look pretty. But you have to remember that some dyes are dangerous.

  1. They’re expired

I mean… duh! Of course! Does this really need to be mentioned? But all kidding aside, an expired vitamin is not that harmful. However, vitamin manufacturers set an expiration date to make sure that it will remain potent throughout the good-to-consume date.

  1. You don’t need it

The thing about vitamins is you don’t need all of them! Some people need a certain vitamin for some health reasons, but the truth is, some do not. A sure way to know which vitamin you need is through getting a blood test. Your physician can measure the levels of key nutrients you need in your blood so you can specifically determine which nutrient you lack.

  1. It’s a gummy

Sorry, folks, but you are not alone in the disappointment. The truth is, and independent testing conducted by ConsumerLab has revealed that some gummy supplements do not have their listed vitamins or minerals and even have some fillers like sugar.

As consumers, it is our responsibility to make sure that we hold our vitamin manufacturers accountable. That’s why it is important to only go with a trusted vitamin manufacturer. Our health is our most important wealth.

Why Work with a Vitamin Manufacturer?

Posted on by Andi

With the growing market of people who want to invest more in their health, it should no longer come as a surprise why more and more business people are looking to start their own vitamin business.

In the fantasy world, all a person who wants to start a vitamin business has to do is throw in different herbs and elixir to come up with a magical cure, but such is not the case in the real world. Vitamin manufacturers do a whole lot more than that. From the vitamin production to its birth, vitamin manufacturers have to stay on top of all the processes.

Now, I’d like you to meet Bob. Bob is looking to start his very own line of vitamins. Unfortunately, Bob does not have any kind of background knowledge about vitamins. He only has ideas; what he wants the vitamin to do for those who use it. However, he doesn’t know which would be the best component to use, where to get them, and basically how to begin the process of vitamin production.

Fortunately, Bob decided to look up vitamin manufacturers who can help him out. Vitamin manufacturers are more than ready and capable to hear out the ideas any potential vitamin business owner has. With all the knowledge and experience they have, vitamin manufacturers can immediately put your idea into a possibility. They will know the best ingredients to use, where to source them, and how to produce your vitamin. With their team of experts, your vitamin is well on its way.

The next thing Bob worries about is his products’ quality. He wants to make sure that they all adhere to United States’ Regulatory Standards. A lot of people say that the United States nutraceutical industry is a free market, but that could not be farther from the truth. The United States has a vast network of federal offices, laws, regulations, and even third-party organizations that make sure that standards are continuously established and enforced. This network includes the Office of Dietary Supplement Program. We also have cGMP or current Good Manufacturing Practices.

With the help of professional vitamin manufacturers who have been in the business for a long time and have complete licenses and certifications, Bob is assured that they will conduct business with expertise and experience that Bob does not have. This way, Bon is assured that his products are of the highest quality and abide by the US regulations.

Throughout the process of speaking and negotiating with vitamin manufacturers, Bob also finds out that he can gain higher profit margins. Why is that? Bob will only be paying for the actual price to manufacture the vitamins. When you buy someone else’s product and then resell it, prices automatically go up. Customers tend to find cheaper alternatives from another retailer who directly worked with a vitamin manufacturer.

On top of financial practicality, Bob also need not worry about the packaging and labeling as his vitamin manufacturer can also do these things for him. All Bob has to do is market and sell! Isn’t it a convenience to focus on certain business process?

After production, Bob also wonders what his assurance is when it comes to the quality of the products. It’s a good thing that his vitamin manufacturer has quality assurances that will subject the products to the highest standard tested by a team of quality control experts who are ready to monitor and document their findings closely.

With all these services done for Bob, he is now confident that he has a trusted partner on the road to success. What makes everything easier is that he found someone who can do almost everything for him! Except, of course, marketing and selling. Those things Bob has to deal with on his own.

Finding a vitamin manufacturer who can do all these things professionally and in a timely manner can be tricky. You want someone who can be trusted. If you want to know Bob’s vitamin manufacturer and if you have questions for them, feel free to reach them here.

Best Marketing Ideas for Vitamin Manufacturers

Posted on by Andi

Just as the people of today love to eat, they have also grown to care more about their health. More and more people are conscious of what they eat, what goes into their food, and sometimes even how it’s prepared.

With more people being health-conscious, various fitness-related products and services have begun to flourish; specifically the vitamin manufacturing industry. As successful as vitamin manufacturers out today, they still need marketing strategies in order to gain more clients.

Today vitamin manufacturers would certainly love our topic. I am here to share with you, our dear vitamin manufacturers, the best marketing ideas that you would hate not to utilize.

  1. Be a Reliable Source

The more health-conscious people are becoming, the more careful they are when it comes to deciding which vitamins they want to take. They really take time to browse for reviews and information online to know if a vitamin or a certain vitamin brand is effective and can bring benefits to users. In short, consumers do their homework.

From a vitamin manufacturer, you should ask yourself, “Am I a reliable source?” being a reliable source means explaining your products, what they contain, and how they can help the consumers in achieving their health goals. A way to become a reliable source is by maintaining a blog. You can write blog entries presenting information and even evidence to show how your product can help change your customer’s life.

  1. Tap Out Social Media

Everyone is on social media. Honestly, I think it is a little weird if a person or a business entity is not on social media. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WordPress, you should make sure that your presence is visible on all social media platforms and that all your logos and branding materials are consistent with your official website.

Posting click-worthy, relevant, and share-able content is something that will surely gain your brand attention that can convert page browsers into customers. You have to make your brand stand out. You can also link your articles and other social media postings to your website to gain more traffic. Who knows, a post or two can go viral!

  1. Online Advertising

Everyone is on the internet. I’m pretty sure you, my dear reader, also frequent the world wide web. When spending time online, you see those little banners that advertise a product or service. I must admit that I myself have made some purchases from these advertisements. They catch attention making them so effective. Online advertising can increase web traffic and increase the number of people who visit your online store. Remember, you need to lead customers here to convert them into paying customers.

  1. Grassroots Advertising

This kind of advertising is old-fashioned and “low-tech” so to speak. Grassroots advertising is all about printing brochures and flyers that you simply leave in local business establishments like the gym, spa, salons, and other clinics that receive foot traffic every day. This may not seem much, but they are still highly effective.

  1. Partner Up!

You know how some celebrities, public figures, or influencers post photos with captions detailing how they use a certain product and all the good it has done to them? That’s what you call affiliation. For example, you partner up with a public figure or a celebrity to write something about your product. With all the followers he or she has, people would certainly be convinced, or at the very least, curious about the product.

The usual protocol with this strategy is that bloggers or public figures receive a percentage from all the sales made through their page or website.

  1. Make the First Impression Last

As I have mentioned before, marketing is mostly done online. One thing a vitamin manufacturer should have is a website. Your website can be a catalog listing all the services you offer and even the products you are ready to manufacture, showing how they look like, and their ingredients. You can set up your online store and put your company’s blog articles here.

Now, when you set up your website, make sure that it is oozing with wow factor. Customers would not be too enthused if they see an outdated website. In fact, I have asked people around me what they think of companies with outdated websites. They only had one answer: unreliable. So, take a look at your website and see if it’s time to refresh that page.

  1. Keep It Real

You got into the vitamin manufacturing for a reason. Whether it is a passion for health, a desire to help people change their lives, or a personal reason, you have your reason. I urge you to keep in touch with those reasons because they will reflect on the products you produce. The very reason you started out this journey-slash-business will surely encourage others to do the same.

  1. Flexibility Is Key

The trend in the vitamins and supplements markets change rapidly. Every month or so, vitamin and supplement trends change. This month, it can be weight loss, the next it can be for skin. As a vitamin and supplement manufacturer, you should stay on top of these trends to keep up with the market and the customer’s needs.

  1. Be Personally Active

As effective as social media marketing is today, being active in the community by organizing events can also raise awareness about your company and products. Wellness fairs and even joining bazaars or trade shows as a vendor will also lead possible customers to you.

Vitamin manufacturing is a challenging industry – one that you cannot easily take on without proper knowledge, experience, and skills. And then, there’s that challenge of getting people to trust the company, products, and services. We hope that these marketing ideas give you an idea of how to proceed to success.

Best Questions to Ask Your Supplement Manufacturer Before You Hire Them Part 2

Posted on by Andi

Last week, I shared some crucial questions you can raise to your supplement manufacturer before you decide to work with them. These questions will help you determine their credibility, the company’s current status, and the quality of the products they produce. The answers to these questions will help you check off an item on your to-do list. Starting a business can be a very stressful and exciting adventure, that’s why you always have to remember that knowledge is the power that will help you succeed.

Before we proceed with the second list of the best questions to ask your supplement manufacturer, I would like to give you a quick recap of the first part:

  • Do you have certifications that show the kind of work that you do and deliver? We are looking for quality craftsmanship and products.
  • How long have you been in the business? We value experience.
  • Do you do your own manufacturing? The place where our products come from matters,
  • What tests do the products undergo? We aim to make sure that the products are effective and will bring long-term benefits to those who take it.
  • Do you abide the GMP or good manufacturing process?
  • Do you manufacture liquid supplements? Manufacturing liquid supplements is a significant proof that a supplement manufacturer is reliable as it takes a great amount of expertise and experience to get this down to pat.
  • How do you communicate internally and with the clients? Transparency is non-negotiable for our business. This can only begin through communication.

Now that we have reviewed the first part of the list, let’s turn our attention to the second part.

  • What kind of ingredients do you (supplement manufacturer) use?

Part of producing high-quality supplements is the ingredients. It is important to know what kind of ingredients are used in your product and where they come from. A common misconception in supplement manufacturing is that it does not matter how much of a certain ingredient is used, how it is packaged, and what is packaged as long as it is present in the supplement. Let’s take Vitamin C as an example. Ascorbic acid is very common in supplements, but two manufacturers can use two different kinds of ascorbic acid – one can use a variation with 90% ascorbic acid and 10% corn starch and lactose while the other one can use 100% ascorbic acid. Apart from knowing what kind of ingredient is used, you should also learn to ask where they are sourced from.

  • What permits and licenses does your manufacturing facility have?

Depending on your location and state, permits and licenses to operate a supplement manufacturing facility can vary. As a soon-to-be business owner, you should know the different business permits and licenses that your business should have. Your supplement manufacturer, both their business and manufacturing facility, should have all the necessary credentials. If they fall short of this requirement, then it is my duty to tell you that you should not consider bringing your business to them. Remember, your supplement manufacturer is your business partner.

  • Can they help you label?

Another huge responsibility in selling health supplements is labeling. If you are getting into the business, labeling is a serious part of the business. Labeling is a huge responsibility because this is the way you let your customers know what they are going to ingest. Your supplement manufacturer will surely have a deeper knowledge on how to create your product’s label.

You should ask if their structure and function claim is reliable. What is “structure and function”? The structure is all about the ingredients that are used in the supplement and its corresponding amount. The function is the health benefits that should be enjoyed once the customers start taking the supplement regularly.

  • Will you keep it clean?

By keeping it clean, I mean will your supplement manufacturer try their best to avoid excipients? Excipients are inert substances or fillers that serve as “vehicles” for active ingredients. As your supplement manufacturer’s customer, you have the right to ask them not to use excipients.

I have noticed that people prefer “cleaner” products. They tend to steer clear of products that have unfamiliar names to them. Common excipients used in health supplements are stearic acid, silica, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, titanium, and cellulose. This is natural and expected because nobody wants to take something they do not recognize.

  • What cleaning agents are present in the manufacturing facility?

This may seem over the top or insignificant for you, but if you want to be a thorough business person, then you should know everything about your supplement manufacturer down to the smallest detail.

Why does knowing the cleaning agent used in the manufacturing facility important? Because you want to minimize the possibility of receiving complaints from customers who are prone to allergies. If you want to keep your products “clean”, then your supplement manufacturer’s cleaning agents should be natural as well.

  • Is drop shipping possible?

What is drop-shipping? Drop shipping is shipping the customer’s products directly to them. Once you decide to partner up with a supplement manufacturer, you can coordinate the orders you receive with them and they will ship it directly to the customer. This is how drop-shipping works. If your supplement manufacturer can do this, then this will be of great help. It’s not a staple service, so not everyone will offer it and this service will definitely cost you more.

When looking for the best supplement manufacturer, always remember that asking questions is crucial. You have to place them under a microscope for you to know who you are dealing with. The more you know about your supplement manufacturer, the more you will be able to make an educated decision which will lead to the success of your business.

If you are still looking for the best supplement manufacturer, possessing all the required permits, licenses, and certifications, then Earth’s Creation USA is for you. Feel free to contact us anytime you want here.

Best Questions to Ask Your Supplement Manufacturer Before You Work with Them

Posted on by Andi

When you are out shopping for something, especially if it’s your first time to buy it or try a certain product, you ask as many questions as possible and even go to the extent of researching first. This is from a consumer’s perspective.

Now, let’s switch. Say, you are planning to start your own business and now you are the one looking to sell and make some profits. Do you think you would still be asking questions? Well, I hope so!

One of the, if not the most crucial thing to do in establishing your own supplement business is looking for your supplement manufacturer. You want to make sure that you are working with the best and getting your capital’s worth. Before you entrust your ideas to your supplement manufacturer, here are some questions you can ask to cover your bases.

  1. Do you have certifications under your belt?

Sure, it is nice when a supplement manufacturer guarantees you this and that. However, I feel what others say about them is more important. By others, I mean, certification organizations whether from private or government bodies. It’s important that we, as clients, know the kind of service we can expect. We should look out for the supplement manufacturer’s quality. Currently, there are three GMP or good manufacturing practice certifying bodies. They are USP Certification by United States Pharmacopeia, NPA certification by Natural Products Association, and Pharmaceutical Consulting Services. These organizations award certifications specifically for contract supplement manufacturers.

  1. How many years have you been in the business?

Oscar Wilde once said, “Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes.” I am a firm believer of this statement as well as that sage line that says, “Experience is the best teacher.” The longer a company has been in the business, the more they have learned things from practical situations; things that you cannot learn unless you make a particular mistake. With experience, your supplement manufacturer should possess the expertise, skill, and even work ethics that you are looking for. You want a manufacturer who is not just in it for the trend, but rather for commitment and excellence.

  1. Do you do your own manufacturing?

Yes, I know, this question is weird. I mean, why call yourself a manufacturer if you don’t actually manufacturer? But this is actually a valid question. This is because most manufacturing companies, especially in the United States, outsource 95% of their manufacturing responsibilities. This results in a longer lead time, and worse, loss of control when it comes to production.

There are even some cases when your manufacturer buys from another manufacturer. The risk in doing this is that your supplement manufacturer may not know exactly what the ingredients were used in producing your own line of supplements, which is a very big risk to take.

  1. What tests do the products undergo?

Another good sign that a supplement manufacturer can be trusted is if they have their very own testing laboratory. This is a concrete sign that they take quality control seriously. Did you know that outsourcing laboratory tests can be very expensive? That’s why if a supplement manufacturer does not have an in-house laboratory, I automatically take this as a red flag.

I also discourage you from just asking your prospective supplement manufacturer if they have an in-house laboratory. Ask follow-up questions. You should also ask for the equipment they have in the laboratory. Talk to the laboratory director or manager. Ask who will handle your product testing, what equipment are used to test for identity, heavy metals, and microbiology. You can even ask to visit the laboratory because that is well within your right as a client.

  1. Do you abide by the CGMP?

What is CGMP? CGMP stand for Current Good Manufacturing Practice. You have to take note of the word “current” as this is the chief operative word. These guidelines constantly evolve to ensure that all products are of the highest quality. CGMP is enforced by FDA or Food and Drug Administration. They ensure that CGMP is strictly followed by human pharmaceutical companies. CGMP ensures the identity, strength, quality, and purity of drug products.

You should know that following CGMP is the bare minimum. Your supplement manufacturer should not get extra brownie points for doing this. It is not enough to ask your supplement manufacturer if they follow CGMP; you should also ask them to cite examples and proof within their organization that they follow good manufacturing practice.

  1. Do you manufacture liquid supplements?

Yes, manufacturing liquid supplements is probably the most arduous task a supplement manufacturer can take on. That is because liquid supplements call for a high degree of precision; they are also easily contaminated if mistakes are made in formulating or manufacturing phase. If your supplement manufacturer does not have enough experience in doing this, chances are, you are rolling a dice.

  1. How do you communicate?

I don’t know about you, but for me, communication is key if you want your business to succeed. As in any other business transaction, what I value most is the ability of the other part to communicate effectively and in a timely manner. Most importantly, there should be honesty in communicating.

For example, if the supplement manufacturer runs out of a certain ingredient and they plan to replace it with something else, do you think they should take it up with you first? Of course! Another thing, your supplement manufacturer should be upfront about their lead time. If they promise an unrealistic time frame, chances are they are cutting corners in the production or they cannot fulfill it. So, be honest in your intent and expectations and all shall go well.

These are the first 7 questions I want you to raise to your prospective supplement manufacturer. Remember, asking questions is your right. Do not be afraid to use it.

The second part of this article will be posted on Monday, so stay tuned! In the meantime, do not hesitate to let us know if you have more questions. We love hearing from you!

Why Should We Take Food Supplements?

Posted on by Andi

In a time where everyone loves to eat, one would think that taking food supplements is no longer necessary. After all, who doesn’t like to eat, am I right? But, how come food supplements are still a raging success in the market and people continue buying them? That’s because food supplements deliver something that chewing and swallowing alone cannot provide. As we go through this article, we are going to find out what exactly food supplements are, who and why we continue taking them.

  • What Are Food Supplements?

Food, dietary, or nutritional supplements – call it whatever you want, but these three are all cut out of the same fabric. They exist because they provide the nutrients we do not consume in sufficient quantities. To simply explain, we can call them a dietary top-up. Food supplements can come in different kinds. They can be fatty or amino acids, minerals, vitamins, and other nutritional substances. We can take them in different forms, too; liquid, capsules, tablets, or pills.

Food supplements are made available in varying doses and likely in different combinations. It is important to remember, though, that anything in excess is dangerous – the same thing goes with food supplements. They possess higher amounts of nutrients than what we find in food. It does not matter how nutritious or “well-meaning” they are, but if you take them in high doses, they may cause adverse effects to the body.

  • Who Should Take Food Supplements?

Before we go any further, I must make an emphasis: Supplements cannot and will never replace a healthy and balanced diet. A healthy diet should include a hefty amount of vegetables, fruits, protein, healthy fats, and whole grains. All these should be able to supply all the nutrients our bodies need to sustain good health.

In a perfect world, we would all be eating these. But, because of our fast-paced lifestyle, we have developed a certain dependence on fast food, microwavable and instant-cooking meals. All these have little to no nutrients at all. They are even loaded with sodium and preservatives. That is why food supplements are here to stay.

Food supplements serve different purposes. Take as an example, women who are of childbearing age and are sexually active should consume folic acid in order to prevent any birth defect from affecting the potential offspring. Some people have weak bones and could not drink milk or other sources of calcium, so supplementing with it will be beneficial. Anyone who wants to improve their health can and should take food supplements provided that they seek their physician’s advice first.

  • Why Should We Take Food Supplements?
  1. The food we eat today is not as wholesome and simple as it used to be. With preservatives, and other taste-giving ingredients that are not healthy. Even the way food is prepared today can also contribute to the reduction of nutritional value. Food supplements fill out those nutritional gaps that food may lack.
  2. Have you ever seen a fruit or vegetable that looks so perfect it may just as well be a drawing come to life? That’s because they are bred genetically in order to make them look nice and it also speeds up production. It’s like food plastic surgery. However, this “surgery” lessens the nutritional values of the food supply.
  3. Always on the go that you have barely enough time to chew your food well? Are you always stressed? These things can impact your ability to digest food, thus affecting your ability to absorb the nutrients that you should be extracting from it. That’s why, when you eat, make sure that you eat well. No, I don’t mean to eat a lot, but to chew your food well.
  4. When food items are shipped or stored for a long time, depletion in the amount of vitamins like B-complex and C and nutrients of the food may follow. Even the way vegetables or fruits are harvested can degrade the nutrient value of the food we eat. That’s why eating fresh food is also important.
  5. There are certain situations in life where we need a higher amount of a certain nutrient. Take as an example, pregnancy. Women need a high amount of folic acid to keep the baby healthy.
  6. Air, water, and food pollution cause our bodies to rely on nutrients more than it usually it does in order to cleanse and get rid of harmful substances in our bodies. Vitamins A, C, and E are the best kinds of antioxidants to do this job.
  7. If you exercise or train regularly, this automatically increases your nutrient requirement. Active people use more oxygen and energy that will prompt the necessity to consume more nutrients.
  8. As we age, our ability to absorb nutrients also decline. In the same way, children need food supplements in order to make sure that their bone and tissue formation are completed optimally.
  9. Everyone has a genetic weakness, one way or another. This calls for a higher nutrient requirement in order to make up for the nutritional deficiency carried by the genetic weakness.
  10. Numerous studies have shown and proved that food supplements help prevent or address various health conditions like cancer, high cholesterols, arthritis, and birth defects.

Food supplements continue to thrive in the market because there is a need for them and they do our health and bodies good. If you are looking to start your own brand of food supplements, you are more than welcome to contact us. Feel free to reach out should you have any questions here.
